Elda’s Dream

A fundraising campaign sponsored by the Dream Village Foundation.

This is the story of Elda.  She is 35 years old and a single mom with 4 children.  She has been living in Denver for 17 years.

She is a domestic violence survivor from Durango Mexico and suffered abuse from her husband for over 10 years.  As her children were getting older they started to act like their farther and she decided enough was enough.   Even though divorced and separated now, her ex-husband continues to be emotionally abusive and uses the courts to try to control her.

Elda works very hard to support her family.  She currently works the graveyard shift from midnight to 8am at a local factory.  After her shift, she is back home to see the children off to school.

Her dream, since she was a little girl, is to get formally trained to become a pastry chef.  Her objective would be to secure a position with a bakery, an upscale hotel, or fine restaurant.

The Dream Village Foundation is sponsoring her by running a fundraising campaign.

Our goal is to raise $8,500; sufficient funds for the first steps toward Elda’s dream.

These funds will pay for tuition, books, and fees so that she can obtain her certificate as a pastry chef and to also purchase some initial baking supplies.
